¡á Chungcheongbuk-do Province
Chungcheongbuk-do, pursuing its efforts to become a "province of economy," is home to some 1.5 million people over a land area of 4,372 §´. It is the only landlocked province in South Korea. Centrally located and connected to other parts of the country through a vast transportation network, it is only two hours' distance from anywhere in Korea. It is also a region endowed with scenic mountains, hot springs and lakes including the beautiful Chungjuho.

Efforts to spur investments within the region are ongoing, and recent examples of successful investments include the Cheongju International Airport and some of the leading technology companies in Ochang and Osong. Furthermore, the construction of the Osong Express Train Station and Korea's new administrative town of Sejong City are expected to give the momentum for growth yet another push.

The Chuncheongbuk-do provincial government is making every effort to ensure the success of major international events, including the 2008 Korea-China-Japan Ministerial Conference on Tourism, Bio Korea 2008, and the 2010 International Oriental Medicine Expo.

Through the collective efforts of its people, the province will achieve its goals and live up to its slogan¤Ñ"Chungcheongbuk-do - A Land of Affluence, A Land of Happy People."

Mt. Songnisan is noted for being the home of the Jeongipum Pine Tree and Beopjusa, the most famous Buddhist temple in the region.  A number of initiatives are currently underway to make this destination more accessible and known, including the construction of express highways and major tourist resort complexes around the mountain.  A town known for traditional Korean music located at the skirt of Mt. Songnisan is also an area that is actively attracting visitors.
